Because it would pull an estimated 35 million gallons of water from Cedar Creek to fill a private, 13-acre pond. plus millions more lost each year to evaporation. That water feeds the Milwaukee River and Lake Michigan, making this a statewide issue, not just a local one.

How does this project affect Wisconsin’s shared water resources?

Cedar Creek is part of an interconnected watershed. Drawing this much water can lower the aquifer, harm nearby wells, and disrupt wildlife habitats. Once a precedent like this is set, it opens the door for other private projects to do the same.
